To navigate you will need a GPX file to download into your phone's mapping app. These are at present not accessible from this page. If you would like one, please email dp3nja@gmail.com to request a copy.
A few details about each of the route are given below.
Gosforth Blyth Circular via Cramlington and the Coast
50 km / 31 miles
Mostly traffic free. benefits from the cycle paths through Cramlington, National Cycle Route 1 around Blyth, and several Wagon Ways
Short section of very poor surface when heading inland from the beach at Blyth. Can avoid by using the road (A190) past Seaton Delaval Hall.
Short section of busy road heading west from the Metro station at Monkseaton
Refreshments at Blyth in Ridley Park or on the seafront
Gosforth Blyth Circular via Stannington
54.6 km / 33.9 miles
Mostly traffic free out of Gosforth to Blyth using several Wagonways. Tracks the River Blyth inland and uses bridleways round the south of Bedlington. Quietish roads to Stannington and back to Dinnington. Then a quiet route into Gosforth.
Refreshments at Moorhouse Farm Shop at Stannington Station
Gosforth to Coast via Earsdon and Rising Sun
36.9 km / 22.9 miles
Mostly traffic free north from Gosforth until it meets the Reivers Cycle route (NCN10). Then follows NCN10 north of Killingworth and through Backworth. Traffic free and quiet roads to the coast near Whitley Bay Cemetery. South along the coast following NCN1 to Cullercoats. Then inland on quiet estate roads to Silverlink. Finishing off back to Gosforth off road passed the Rising Sun Country Park.
Many refreshment stops along the coast.
Gosforth to Sunderland Circular
64.8 km / 40.3 miles
Mostly off road to the north entrance to the Tyne Cycle Tunnel. Then follows the Bowes Cycle Path south west uphill to Leam Lane. Quietish roads to North Hylton and down hill to the River Wear. East along the riverside path (NCN7) to Sunderland and the coast. North along the coastal cycleway (NCN1) to the Tyne Ferry at South Shields. North along the Reivers Cycle Route (NCN10) to Shiremoor and then continuing west via Backworth to Killingworth. Finally mostly off road back to Gosforth .
The route can be significantly shortened by returning more directly to Gosforth having crossed the River Tyne at North Shields.
Many refreshment stops along the coast section particularly at Roker.
Gosforth, Heddon, Stamfordham and Ponteland

Gosforth Blackhall Mill Circular
???

Gosforth south to Beamish and back
54.2 km / 33.7 miles
Reasonably long at 54km and that's with uninspiring routes to and from the Tyne. However can be shortened on day if necessary by missing out the Beamish circuit - but would be a pity as looks to be one of the best bits!!
Uses parts of the Angel Cycle Way, the Bowes Railway path, the Beamish Loop, the Tanfield Railway Path, the Derwent Way and the Hadrian Cycle Way.
Unfortunately no obvious refreshment stops until Liosi's at Newcastle Business Park on the Tyne north bank
